Literature is the true representative
Literature is the
essence of social morals and norms. it reflects the culture of a society in
every perspective no mater good or bad because reflecting the immoral action it
helps the society realise that on which areas they have to concentrate and put
their energies. If you want to learn the behaviour of a society then you can
take help from their literature. Literature is the soul and it depict our every
action and the way of our thinking, our ideas and how we see life as. So we can
say that literature is the mirror of a society.
We will find diverse
literature around the world and actually it is diversity which make the world
beautiful. If you chose an American or Europe’s latest literature you will find
a very important thing which is “consent” but at the same time African deprived
countries lack this thing. If we find the books of the dark ages, we will
really feel illness in them and also find the glimpse of passion for freedom.
In a novel “kite runner” I feel the situation of Afghanistan because the writer
was native and he was portraying the true scenarios. Writer writes the thing
which they observe in the society so if the society is full of hate, injustice
and inequalities the writer can write the polite books which depict about a
leisurely life.
Now coming toward
Pakistan and its literature we have to go in the era before came into being;
because Urdu is not a very old language. The first novel in Urdu literature was
“Marat ul Uroos” written by Deputy Nazir Ahmed. This novel was written on the
point that how a woman should behave. And unfortunately in Urdu literature a
woman is always portrayed in certain ways as a second gender who is not strong
and house hold chores is all she has to do. And we are not being able to
eliminate these stigmas against women after more the century because they are
enrooted in our system. In 19th and 20th century we have
literature about resistance and revolutions because at that time subcontinent
was trying to get freedom from UK. in the same era, we can see Allama Iqbal
poetry who emphasis on Muslim youth and their character building. In a Khadija
Mastoor drama “angan” we can feel the tension before partition and from which
circumstances they went through.
After the partition the
literature change in many perspectives but it remains same as anti-feminist and
even there are few writers who write about women rights because in our society
women education and empowerment are seen as a taboo and taken as a threat to
society. After the freedom we were under martial law and we can find that essence
in the writing of Faiz Ahmed Faiz and Ahmed Nadeem Qasmi. Our literature is
either full of romance or brutal stories because we are facing extremism in
society. In love stories we find a typical love between two lovers (always a
man and a woman because in our society LGBT is not consider anything but a
sin). Due to this extremist literature the new generation is also thinking in
that way because literature is a thing which nourish and groom a person so if a
literature is full of hate how could you have the waves of love, respect,
freedom and justice in society and in a result we can see the consequences as
Mishaal Khan, Shahzaib Khanzada and Salman Taser murder case. So literature
always reflect a society it culture, norm, ideas, caste and creed system and
most importantly its values and norms which are embodied in its roots.
In all these things
there are some people who spread love and peace by their writings and help the
youth and new generation to think of a different world with peace and freedom.
We can see this thing in writings of people like Bulleh Shah, Shah Abdul Latif
Bhatia, Rahman Baba, Bacha Khan. Concluding all the debate I want to say that
any culture is not wholly wrong or right but human basic rights are necessary
for a society and their presence in a society make their literature more
beautiful.
I got 4 GPA ♥️😂
